FERNY HILLS: An idea that originated from a Ferny Hills woman’s journey into motherhood has given birth to a fledgling handmade business, Kitty Boo Boo.
Katie Bellotti always had a passion for handmade things, but has now taken her business to a new level with her online store and a stall at the South Bank Young Designer Markets.
Ms Bellotti said when she had her first child she realised there was limited children’s clothing and accessories to suit the discerning and more fashion-conscious parents.
“It was pretty much born out of necessity,” she said.
“I got my inspiration from the things I realised I needed or wanted for my children.
“I would be out on the street and people would stop me and ask me where I got particular things, so I just started making more. I like to make stuff that I love.”
Ms Bellotti makes clothing for children and adults, hair clips, jewellery and art pieces.
“It’s not technically a business at the moment, more of an obsessive hobby,” she said.
“I used to design specifically goth and punk style clothing but then I had the kids and entered a whole new world of colour.”
Kitty Boo Boo makes one-off pieces for children and adults.
